High cholesterol at 17? Can someone explain my blood work results?
The fasting doesn't matter. High levels of TSH point to Hyperthyroidism, as do higher levels of cholesterol. HDL and LDL are just two types of cholesterol, LDL being the bad kind. I would say that you have an overactive thyroid, and you should probably get it removed or take a medication to suppress its activity. It is not what you are eating or how you are exercising, usually things relating to the thyroid are hereditary. Find out if anyone in your family has had their thyroid removed or any problems with it. And make sure that your family doctor knows what is going on. Hyperthyroidism can be dangerous if left untreated for long, and will continue to produce unwanted blood work. It can also cause higher than normal blood pressure and a faster heart rate.
